Multi-phase motor drives have been studied for more than thirty years, but starting from the last five years, the interest has grown to the point that some international power electronic conferences have hosted sessions on the multi-phase motor drives. Variablespeed AC motor drives with more than three phases, multi-phase drives have several advantages when compared to the standard three-phase realizations . The current stress of the semiconductor devices decreases proportionally with the phase number, torque ripple is reduced, rotor harmonic currents are smaller, power per rms ampere ratio is higher for the same machine volume and harmonic content of the DC link current for VSI fed drives is reduced. Other advantages include an improvement in the noise characteristics and a reduction in the stator copper loss, leading to improved efficiency. This paper presents the design and application of fuzzy logic and PI controls for six phase induction motor (SPIM), at first modeling of SPIM, next two mentioned methods are presented. Then to validate by MATLAB/Simulink these two methods, the speed curve and efficiency diagram are demonstrated.
