Nowadays magnetic gears have attracted much attention due to their superior advantages relative to conventional mechanical gears, such as: no contact, no friction and no lubrication, inherent overload protection and free from noise and vibration. This paper presents a wounded magnetic gear (WMG) in order to control the speed of wind turbine shaft to connect it to a permanent magnet synchronous generator. It is shown that this magnetic gear can operate as controllable magnetic gear. As such, vector control strategy is used. Finally this is examined for different wind speeds and feasibility of this method is illustrated. It is shown that the WMG can operate as motor, neutral, and generator modes
